Week Four

Home

Have you heard of Tim Tebow? He’s the Denver Bronco quarterback that is
becoming famous because he is an outspoken Christian as well as a great athlete.
I’m no real football fan but Tebow got my attention. When I found out he wrote a
book, I picked it up at the library. I wanted to know about his parents, his
upbringing, and his day-to-day life growing up. How did his parents raise a child
this strong in his faith? Well, the book is worth the read. I took notes and put them
in my prayer journal. I ended up adding a tab just for my girls. (See, your prayer
binder grows with you) Ladies, don’t hesitate to add church bulletins, articles, or
notes that prompt you to pray. I read that Ruth Graham, Billy Graham’s wife, put
pictures of the people she prayed for around her desk.

Last week we recorded our prayers for unbelievers and the sick. I know that many
of you, like me, are praying for the salvation of your children. I was inspired by the
Scriptures on this link
http://www.liftupusa.com/pray4lost.html  Actually, the entire
page is inspiring. This letter seems to have been written by a true prayer warrior.

I have assembled prayers with scripture references you may want to add to your
Friday list.

1. Lord, I pray that ________will know you as his/her Savior. I pray that they
will live a life committed to you. I know that nothing is impossible for You.
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all
things are possible with God.” (Mark 10:27)

2. Lord, I pray that everything in _______ life that is evil will be demolished. I
pray that ____ will obey Christ in all his/her ways.
The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they
have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every
pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive
every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:4-5)

3. Lord, you sent your son to die for _______ because you loved him/her. I
pray that _____will receive your son’s death as payment for their sins,
believe in you, and have eternal life.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[a] that whoever
believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

4. The blood of Christ has secured _______. On the grounds of Jesus’ shed
blood I claim her/him as God’s possession in Jesus’ name.
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners,
Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)

5. Lord, I pray______ will not love the world or anything in the world.
Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love
of the Father is not in him. (1 John 2:15)

6. Lord, I pray that _____will come to his/her senses and escape the trap of
the devil.
Those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant
them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come
to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive
to do his will. (2 Timothy 2:25-26)

7. Lord, I that pray I will continue to intercede on behalf of my loved ones,
and not give up.
Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray
and not give up. (Luke 18:1)

Our Goals this week:

1. Read Daniel 9: 4-19    Note how Daniel pleads to God on behalf of his people.
He praises God. He confesses the sins of his people. He acknowledges God
attributes. He makes his prayer request based on God’s character.

2.Record your Sunday prayer list: Family members and friends

3. Pray!

God bless and thanks for walking on this journey with me,
Mimi

Week Five:

So, we just celebrated Valentine’s Day. Were we really celebrating love?
Unfortunately, many times the love the world celebrates is temporary, conditional,
and often times an illusion.

Now, that the flowers are starting to wilt, the sweet treats are long gone, and the
balloons are deflating, let’s fix our minds on our one true love.

Love, real love, is not based on conditions. It is given freely, expecting nothing in
return. When Jesus died on the cross, He did so out of love. There is nothing we
can do to deserve what God has done on our behalf. All we have to do is receive
it. Now, that’s what I call a Valentine’s gift.

Last week, we wrote our Sunday prayer list. We prayed for our family members
and friends.

Are you praying for people that don’t understand you? Perhaps, you are praying for
people that don’t like you. I have been praying for people, by name, since I
became a Christian. However, I wasn’t really doing so out of love. I was expecting
something in return. When they didn’t react the way I felt they should have reacted,
I felt rejected and eventually stopped praying. I was not responding like Jesus.

Our Goals this week:

1. Read John 17:16-26 Jesus is praying for His disciples and all believers. Notice
the tenderhearted way that our Jesus prays for us. Many of us spent years
rejecting Jesus yet He still loves us. What a powerful example for you and me. May
we respond like Jesus.

2. Write God a letter and don’t hold anything back. Talk to Him about this week.
How was Valentine’s Day for you? Did you simply enjoy God’s presence in the
midst of it all? Did you fall into the enemy’s trap of feeling sorry for yourself? Have
you reached the point where you can trust God with your future husband? Are you
tired of waiting for your mate? How did your reaction demonstrate your trust in
God?

Talk to him about your family members, friends, and co-workers-Do you feel like
your prayers are fruitless or fruitful? Are you feeling rejected? Ask Jesus to make
you more like Him as you continue to hold your family members and friends in
prayer.

3. Put the letter into your Prayer journal. It is going to be wonderful to come back
and read it at a later date. You will have a record of how much you have grown. (I
love that part!)

4. Record your prayer lists for Monday and Tuesday

Monday: Christian leaders, Specific leadership at your church
Tuesday: The United States and Christians everywhere

5.Pray without ceasing!

Week Six:

Are you Free? I mean truly free? I’m on my way there, but I still have some land to
reclaim. I’ve been a Christian for more than thirty years, so I’m freer now than I
was ten years ago. I’m truer now than I was back then. I know more now than I did
last week. However, I still have places within me that have yet to be freed. But I
want everything God intends for me. ~ Susie Larson

I read that quote in a book called
Embracing your Freedom and it stayed with me.
How many women never experience the freedom Christ died to give them? Many
Christian women suffer from a silent disease. If you are not paying attention you
might miss the symptoms.

“My doctor says I need to lose weight. But I can’t seem to do it. I’m ready to give
up, it’s hopeless. I’m tired of failing.”

“I want to post something to the SSE group but I’m afraid they will attack me.
What if I realize later my email was full of errors? Everyone will think I’m stupid.”

“Nobody at the church ever notices what I do. My pastor compliments everyone
except me. I have this same issue at work. Am I invisible or something?”

“Who does she think she is....The Queen of Sheba? I hate her. She always
seems to have her stuff together.”

“Why can’t I seem to get my life together? Just when I think I’m on the right track, I
find out I’m a day late and a dollar short. Again!”

“Everybody is getting married except for me. What’s wrong with me? Do I have a,
‘do not marry me’ sign on my forehead?”

“These gas prices are too much. My bills are out of control. God said he would
supply all of my needs. But......”

“Why stop having sex? Everyone else is doing it. Come on, a girl has to live a
little... right?”

“If God loves me so much, then why did He allow that to happen to me? He must
love everybody but me.”

Is there anything more powerful than your thoughts? What are you telling yourself?
What is the enemy telling you? Can you separate the truth from the lies? Are you in
bondage? Are you free?

Our Goals this week:

1. Document your daily prayers

2. Study Matthew 4:8-11:

Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms
of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow
down and worship me.”

Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your
God, and serve him only.’[a]”

Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.

How did Jesus respond to the Devil’s lies? Did Jesus receive the lies? What did the
Devil do? Spend this week responding to every lie with the truth. Don’t forget to
write down everything in your prayer journal.

Take the time to combat each lie with the truth. If we want to be truly free, we are
going to have to fight this battle daily.

3. Pray Daily: Saturate your mind with the truth!
Submit yourselves, then, to God.
Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)

God bless ladies!
