Week One

We will commit to using our prayer binders to record prayers for our nation,
other Christians, specific ministries, our pastors, our Christian leaders,
ourselves, family members, friends, and lost souls.

Why a prayer binder?

  • It is a place to record your prayers in one place.

  • It is a place to record God’s answers to your prayers.

  • It is a place to record specific Bible verses that pertain to your prayer
    request.

  • It is a place to document the dreams, desires, and goals God has placed in
your heart for this new season.

What tools do you need?

  •   A binder

  •   Loose leaf paper

  •    Dividers with tabs

Optional:

  • Hole puncher: If you want to put articles you read or other items in your
binder this may come in handy.

Our first week goal:
Obtain all the tools you need for your prayer binder.

Week Two

What season of life are you in? Do you want to pray for a few minutes each
day or much longer? Whatever you do, don’t get overwhelmed. This prayer
journal is for you and God only.

In a day-to-day prayer journal we will have a divider for each day. Feel free to
use this list or make your own. You may even start out with this one and end
up with something else. That’s why we are using loose leaf paper. We can
change things around easily.

For instance:

Sunday: Family members and friends
Monday: Christian leaders, Specific leadership at your church
Tuesday: The United States and Christians everywhere
Wednesday: Specific Ministries
Thursday: You & people that asked you to pray for them
Friday: People you don’t believe know Christ, The sick
Saturday: Praise Party
Daily Prayers: Whatever you want to bring before the Lord daily
Answered Prayer: A record of how and when God answered your prayers

Within each category you can get as specific as you need to; You may want to
use more dividers based on your particular list.

For instance:

Sunday: Family Members

Marriages: List all the marriages in your family

Children: List all your nieces, nephews, and cousins

In need of healing: List the sick in your family. You may want to include those
that are incarcerated or addicted to drugs. Don’t forget those that have lost
loved ones.

Tuesday: The United States and Christians everywhere
  • President Obama and his family
  • Your governor, mayor, and other elected officials
  • Christian missionaries throughout the world

Our goals this week:

  • Label each divider (Sunday, Monday, etc.) and place them in your binder
    along with paper.

  • Record your Thursday prayer list. Record the prayers for you and anyone
that has asked you to pray for them.

Read the first chapter in The Book of Nehemiah. Take note of how Nehemiah
prays.
  1. He praises God.
  2. He confesses sins.
  3. He prays God’s Word back to Him.
  4. He asks God for a specific request.

Lastly.....Pray!

Week Three

Our Goals this week:

  • Read Psalm 51 aloud. This psalm was written by King David after he had
sex with another man’s wife. David is praying to God and asking for His
forgiveness. Confessing our sins to God is a central ingredient to prayer.

  • Record your Friday prayer list. People you don’t believe know Christ and
    the sick

  • Pray!

I have assembled prayers with scripture references you may wa
nt to add to
your
Thursday list. Remember to keep your prayer journal handy as your
read/study your Bible. You may even want to take it to church or Bible Study.
There may be a Scripture you want to pray or even an answer to prayer.
Remember your prayer journal will grow with you.

  • Lord, help me to be still. Help me to slow down so that I may hear you.

Be still, and know that I am God; (Psalm 46:10)

  • Lord, help me to be devoted to you and the purpose you have for my life.

An unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the Lord’s affairs: Her aim is to
be devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit (Partial from 1 Corinthians 7:34)

  • Lord, I’m holding back. Help me to devote myself fully to you.

Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give
yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the
Lord is not in vain. (1 Corinthians 15:58)

  • Lord, help me to run from anything that would tempt me sexually.

Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but
he who sins sexually sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body is a
temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You
are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.
(1 Corinthians 6:18-20)

  • Lord, may I be mindful that you always provide a way out when I am
    tempted.

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful;
he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted,
he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. (1 Corinthians 10:
13)

  • Lord, help me to not conform to this world.

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the
renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will
is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2)

  • Lord, I want to delight in you.
Delight yourself in the LORD
and he will give you the desires of your heart. (Psalm 37:4)
